01 Welcome!

Dazzling December!

Whether you're enjoying winter festivites or reflecting on the past months, may these moments be filled with happiness and peace. Welcome to the 4th volume of Neighboorhood Niche! My goal is to provide local information in an educational and entertaining way.

A little bit about me: I am a real estate agent, animal care specialist, Xennial living in the Midwest. Read more about my background here.

There are a ton of local events going on in the Northern IL/Southern WI area it's hard to keep up.  Here's a link to my events and shenanigans calendar if you want a quick peek on what's going on the state-line.

02 Local Resources!

Click here for a list of local businesses/organizations and some extra resources I've been working on!

If you would like to be added to my contact list, feel free reach out.

Current information includes mortgage lenders, attorneys, home inspectors, radon testers, contractors, cleaning services, painting, landscaping, movers/storage, notary, business resources, photographers/art studios, website design, financial advisors, marketing/networking consultants, insurance/health care/after care, farm/large equipment businesses, local small businesses, and non-profits. This current list does not currently include as many animal care services as I would like (my network for that is quite large and will take some time to put together) but you can reach out to me for information.

04 Day in the life of...

Random thoughts, toilsome challenges, panegyrical stories, links to videos and other shenanigans is what you can expect in this section :)

Random Thoughts:

Happy Holidays to you and yours!!!

This is a hectic time for everyone so remember to breath and enjoy the happy moments more then you endure the challenging ones.

November involved some great pet sitting gigs, an awesome Bingo Event with Circle of Change and of course the brilliant yearly attempt at family photos.

This first part of Decemer brought on the annual Pierogi day! For the Holiday Season, every year I make a pierogis instead of cookies. It's a very long day but so worth it! Thanks to mom for help this year!

Toilsome Challenges:

My biggest challenge this past month has honestly been dealing with running "Comps" on properties to gauge what they might sell for. With the market being so crazy there have been alot of houses selling for more than they appraised for. Unfortunately, when looking at the public data it doesn't share that. So figuring out what price to list a property at has become much more complicated. Thankfully my awesome managing broker had an educational meeting with a very experienced appraiser that helped us learn how to handle these new challenges.

Panegyrical Stories:

I was blown away when my local realtor assocaition board encouraged me to apply for a program that would send me to Springfield to learn more about the ins and outs of Illinois real estate and become a more informed leader! Still waiting to see if I have been accepted:)
